Common Insulation Problems

The experienced contractors at Mike's Insulation deal with a whole range of common insulation issues on a daily basis. Here are their causes and some tips to help you avoid them.

Condensation and Mold

Condensation within walls during cold weather is a common performance problem. Cold weather condensation is primarily the result of outward air leakage. The most common causes of mold growth on walls or ceilings are high humidity, condensation and water leaks. Adding insulation and a vapor barrier will eliminate the problem. Our highly trained professionals will assess your specific situation and recommend the right solution.

Heat Loss

Insulation in your home is a key part of your building’s envelope. Heat loss can occur in many different ways. If you can slow the movement of heat loss within your house, you can dramatically reduce your energy bills. Mike’s Insulation can locate the problems and present a cost-effective solution.

Ice Damming

Ice dams on roofs form when accumulated snow on a sloping roof melts and flows down the roof under the insulation blanket of snow until it reaches below freezing temperatures, typically at the eves causing ice damming. The melting of the snow on the roof comes from heat from inadequate roof insulation, and/or poor ventilation left untreated. Ice dams can cause serious damage to your roof, gutters, paint, insulation, drywall, structure and even contribute to mold. We can help!
